Happy Thursday y'all! Today starts a new theme for the next few weeks - pattern writing. Just to be clear, I will NOT be going into HOW to write a pattern. Instead, I'll be breaking down different details to pay attention to into bite-sized pieces.
Let's start off with a writing hack - a pattern template. What's a pattern template, you ask? It is a pre-made document that can be copied and reused to make sure each pattern is set up in a consistent fashion each time. The template can cover everything from section order, consistent font choices - font face, size, color, and style - graphics and photo placement, copyright information, contact information. Everything. Anything you put on each pattern and in a particular order, it goes on there.
Once a pattern is set up in a format you're comfortable with, you can save a copy as a "Master Copy" and then just copy and rename it each time you write a new pattern. This makes it super easy to keep everything consistent. I highly suggest having a template to work off of each time. It saves sanity and brain cells on how to order and format stuff each time. And let's be real, anything to make designing and writing easier is a win, amiright?
