Happy Thursday y'all! Today starts a new theme for the next few weeks - pattern writing. Just to be clear, I will NOT be going into HOW to write a pattern. Instead, I'll be breaking down different details to pay attention to into bite-sized pieces.

Let's start off with a writing hack - a pattern template. What's a pattern template, you ask? It is a pre-made document that can be copied and reused to make sure each pattern is set up in a consistent fashion each time. The template can cover everything from section order, consistent font choices - font face, size, color, and style - graphics and photo placement, copyright information, contact information. Everything. Anything you put on each pattern and in a particular order, it goes on there.

Once a pattern is set up in a format you're comfortable with, you can save a copy as a "Master Copy" and then just copy and rename it each time you write a new pattern. This makes it super easy to keep everything consistent. I highly suggest having a template to work off of each time. It saves sanity and brain cells on how to order and format stuff each time. And let's be real, anything to make designing and writing easier is a win, amiright?

Happy Thursday y'all! Just a couple of quick points to share.
Going forward, newsletters will go out on Thursdays along with transitioning to Tech Edit Thursdays. While the alliteration isn't as strong as Tuesdays, Thursdays work better for me personally.

This change also allows me to share information in a more timely manner that is released in the weekly Wednesday Craft Industry Alliance newsletter (visit their site here https://craftindustryalliance.org/ or their IG @craftindustryalliance). I highly suggest it joining their newsletter as it's crafting and maker-centered. It's well-written, engaging, and all about a variety of makers and maker-sellers. I truly enjoy it, and it's one newsletter I look forward to each week. You can get a feel for what they put out in the Tidbits section below as it was all sourced from their newsletter this week.

Upcoming dates of non-availability:
- I will be "off" this coming weekend, and will not be actively editing from Saturday 9/18/2021 through Tuesday 9/21/2021. I will still be honoring all chat obligations.

- I will be off the weekend of Friday, October 15, 2021 through Monday, October 18, 2021, as I will be out of town. I will honor all chat obligations that weekend, but all edits will be scheduled accordingly.
All tidbits this week are sourced from the Craft Industry Alliance newsletter from 9/15/2021. This is not WootCrafts original content and belongs wholly to Craft Industry Alliance. These are tidbits that interested me and I thought could be relevant to share.
Article to read: An Evaluation of Etsy’s New Star Seller Badge Program written by David Bowman.

Craft Industry Alliance newsletter post: We’ve been doing a lot of reading about Etsy’s new Star Seller program which rolled out at the start of September. There’s been a lot of impassioned responses from sellers, and one stood out for us. It was originally posted on the Etsy forums and authored by David Bowman, a chain jewelry artist who also has extensive experience in communications and is an instructor at the University of New Mexico. He goes through each aspect of the rollout and examines the pros and cons in a methodical way that we appreciate.

We reached out to David and he’s granted us permission to republish his forum post.
